Roof Coverings
As a company carrying out pre-purchase reports, many building societies now
require a survey with regards to roof covering's to be carried out. Marston
Timber Preservation are being asked more and more frequently to carry out roof
inspections to determine whether general repair or maintenance is needed or
if in fact complete replacement is necessary. An inspection of this nature
is usually carried out when access can be gained via the internal roof void
together with external observations made from the ground floor elevations.
This will then determine the scope of the work necessary.
The cost of the replacement of the roof would be dependant on the type of construction i.e. whether this is of slate or tile construction. All replacement of roof covering's etc will be carried out in accordance with current building regulations. Also covered within a report for roof covering's are those containing asbestos material and an on site inspection can normally ascertain whether replacement is necessary in a none asbestos material. However, to determine the exact type of asbestos usually laboratory analysis is necessary and an additional charge would be applicable. Any removal and reinstatement is subject to both building and Health & Safety regulations.
